Jewelry Preview - Turquoise Horse Designs

These pieces were some of the last designs I did before Lazy Daze...and also some of my favorites. If you're a lover of southwestern jewelry, turquoise, and horses these are for you!

Rectangle Pendant Necklaces
Faux turquoise rectangles stamped with my own hand carved stamp (making mirror image stamps for earrings wasn't easy!) and hung on silver tone chain.

Another angle of the same necklaces.

Racing Round Necklace
Faux turquoise pendant stamped with horses and hung on a silver tone chain.

Running Horse Chokers
Stamped faux turquoise nuggets strung with antique silver beads on a coarse multi-strand cord.

Two Friends Turquoise Horse Necklace
This necklace is truly one-of-a-kind. It was one of those designs that just happens. While mixing a batch of turquoise clay those neat white streaks appeared and I just couldn't help but make a pendant! I haven't been able to get those results again - so when this necklace is gone - it's really gone! :-)

Turquoise Horse Charm Bracelets.
Charm bracelets to match the necklaces - in two different styles.

Stamped Nugget Earrings

Stamped Round Earrings

And one last look at my favorite necklace...I really need to make one of these for myself! ;-)

A Special Charm for a Very Special Cause - The Finished Bracelet

Here it is! Christine just posted this photo of Villa's finished bracelet on her blog, Stories They Tell!

I just love how it turned out! It's a wonderful thing to be able to create something so small that together with the love and craftsmanship of others will bring a spot of hope and happiness into another person's life. Thank you Christine, for this very special opportunity!

Off to Italy!

The past two weeks have been all about a special design for a very nice lady in Italy. She saw the stamp tests I made a while back and asked me to do a custom piece for a special friend living far away. She also wanted a matching piece for herself. So here they are: a talisman for him and a pendant for her.

Two blue butterflies in the sunshine above two trees reaching out towards each other, their roots intertwining on a grassy hill - like two friends...far away...but also so very close. And on the backs, I inscribed their names each with a blue butterfly flying above.

This new project turned out to be a bigger challenge than I'd first thought, but I'm very happy with the way they turned out. Last Thursday they left for Italy. I love the thought that I was able to help bring two people so far away a little closer with my creations!

New Dragon and Phoenix Pendants in Progress

Technically I guess these pieces are molded - they are very similar to my stamps, but with more depth.

I'm going to try them out in the "bone" mixture I use for my Little Dragon necklaces. I haven't decided if I want to create necklaces or just list them as pendants...I love the sculpting and painting part and once I get going it's hard to stop and decide on a necklace design. ;-)

Back with more photos soon...I've got some Little Dragons waiting to be made today (I'm using a couple glass ruby drops this time)...maybe I'll have the time when I finish them to mix up some "bone" clay for these new molds!

Polymer Clay Stamps

All finished!

Each one of the stamps is my own original design copied from a sketch. I transfer the sketch to the raw clay and then "draw" out the design using different size needles. After curing I brush each stamp liberally with water and press my new earring or pendant on to it.

The stamps:

Trees from the first earrings.

Little kitties with flowers.

Pines in the sun.

A tree with a heart in its branches.

Wind swept trees (right).

And here a few tests showing the designs the stamps create:

Now I just have to mix new colors for my final designs - I'll be working on that over the next few days.
