Painted Hearts

These hearts were my attempt at something new for Valentine's Day. Yes, they're hearts, but I think I veered off target just a little too far. Like my little woodland critter beads, each of these hearts was sculpted in a solid color clay and painted. I really can't get enough of paint these days!!

Each one measures about 24mm by 27mm.

Little Woodland Critters

Making those chameleons (see previous post) really got me in the mood for more painting. I've always enjoyed painting and could easily do it for hours on end! So for these next beads I escaped for a while from the careful planing and measuring that goes along with creating colors with clay and formed each new bead in a plain light tan clay. And then I had fun... painting!

It all started with this little fox. I think he'll be a pendant on a necklace... although I'm not sure what I want him to hang on yet - chain, cord, ribbon - something plain and simple I think...

After the fox, I decided to go even smaller and created 7 more critters. They are each about 1/3 the size of the first fox - 20mm - or about 3/4 of an inch. I'm especially happy with the way the little rabbit turned out. For these critters, I'm thinking a charm bracelet with all of them hanging together...

The tortoise and the hare. ;-)

A New Year!

Hello everyone! Happy New Year!

Can you believe it's been 3 months since my last post? How time flies! There's a lot going on here at Tree Wings Studio and I figured there's no better time to start catching up on blogging than today, on the first of the new year! Here's my most recent project - little veiled chameleons. These little guys were a custom order for some very special reptile lovers, who are also reptile rescuers. They have devoted so much of their time and love to scaled critters of all kinds!

Making these guys was a lot like making dragons, so I really enjoyed doing this project. And it gave me a good excuse to learn more about chameleons!

Wishing you all a New Year filled with lots of happiness and success in everything you do!
