Happy end of summer… and hello autumn!

Gypsy Wildflowers by Bethanne

Today I'm giving you a little peek into my sister Bethanne's corner of Tree Wings Studio…

It's no secret that we're loving leather these days! While I'm busily making new feathery wings and painted butterfly wings, Bethanne has been meticulously inking pretty, vining, boheminan inspired flowers. I love seeing the different styles that emerge from us both working in the same material!

A graceful ballerina and vintage china… a couple of her favorite things that accompany her as she works…

Each focal is a freeform shape—these were originally the trimmings from leather feather making—we keep every little scrap! Keeping with that freeform theme, Bethanne creates a new flower design in India ink for each one, letting it take a shape all its own to best complement the freeform focal, without any thought of copying a previous design or layout… it makes them all the more special, I think…

Like wildflowers trimmed from a country meadow—so very similar, but still individual.

So far Bethanne's made these Gypsy Wildflower focals in dark sepia and rich sanguine red—which is your favorite?

I'm really loving the sanguine. I even have a few jewelry projects coming along using them… they're such fun to work with!

Pick a few Gypsy Wildflowers for yourself in my little bead shop here!

Happy Monday everyone!

New in the shop!

I just finished up the first three colors of my new Ink and Paint wings—I love these!

No burning for this design... sometimes I just don't want the hassle of all the setup, and I've been dying to try out some ink sketches on leather... so here you go!

I inked all the detail freehand and then added just a little paint for soft color.

Three colors so far... Purple Sunset, Smokey Red, and Rustic Blue.

See them in my shop here!

Painted Wings...

Tribal bird wings...

...and butterfly wings!

They're coming soon! :-)

Flying Arrow Wild Horses

There's a sound of itty bitty hooves thundering through my studio this weekend... brand new little wild horses are in progress!

These are the first two to be finished...
I mixed up a new russet brown color, shaped each horse with a little arrow carved into their sides, and then added tiny inlays of one favorite color mixes to create the feathered end. A little splash of paint to highlight the carving and a very light polishing to finish them. I love the freehand work—no stamps for these little horses!

I'm making more now! See them in my shop here and get your pre-order reserved!

Wishing you each a wonderful weekend!

Summer Shop Update!

A few brand new things are hopping into my shop this weekend! I've been slowly working away at getting my shop updated and restocked in between the almost constant bead making. It's been a very busy summer so far! Here's a peek at what's new…

Lunar Hares…
Finally!! These little stamped pebble charms and pendants were started way back in March… and then things piled up and I couldn't squeeze in enough time to finish them until now. I love the uniqueness of each one! So often I'm doing many repeats of the same design, so I really enjoyed making each of these one-of-a-kind… and I know you all will have fun using them in your creations!

Rustic Wild Jackalopes are here too…

I love the rustic tribal feel of these little focals!

Remember these? Leather lovelies from my sister, Bethanne…

I had promised them to you a few months back, and we had big plans on expanding Bethanne's leather line… but some things have changed with the changing leather types as we restock our supply. So, these pretty drops are very limited and once they're gone, they're gone! We're using up the last of our vintage leather stock and you'll be seeing some brand new designs in the coming months. :-)

Next, I have added new Aster Wheels…
"Seascape Green"

And there are a few new colors for my pressed leaf and flower focals…
"Cranberry Gold"

This is my first batch of Half Moon Daisies in "Stormy Blue"…

and "Dusky Eggplant Purple".

More "Silvery Gossamer White" focals and charms too!

Queen Anne's Lace donuts in "Woodland Sunset".

Queen Anne's Lace pendants in "Rustic Copper Brown".

And, finally… little sleepy owls… now in grey!

Go to my shop here to see everything new!

Happy shopping!
